My daddy is a special man. He's a man who has always been a twinkle in my eye, one who took me to preschool everyday in his big yellow blazer when we lived in Nebraska. He was the one who helped me learn from my mistakes. He was the one who walked me down the aisle on my wedding day. Out of all the memories I have tucked away, the one that is most precious to me is when we spent a week driving cross country to Utah and our final stop was Provo. He helped me find an apartment and get moved in. He gave me some money, a gas card and said, "Call home when you can." But when it came time for him to leave, for us to part, I couldn't let him leave because it was too hard. For the first time in my life I realized, I wasn't his "little girl" anymore. So as they say, life isn't over because of one defining day, I may have grown up and now have a family, but in my eyes, I will always be "daddy's little girl".
I know I'm a day late and a dollar short with these birthday wishes, but wanted you to know that I was thinking of you and took the lyrics of the song we danced to on my wedding day (Daddy's Little Girl by Al Martino) and rewrote some of the words to express my thoughts.
So here it is...Happy Birthday Daddy, this is for you!
I'm the end of you're rainbow,
you're pot of gold
I'm one of you're girls to have and hold
A precious gem is what you are
You're my bright, and shining star
You're the best dad in the world.
You're the spirit of Christmas,
my star on the tree
You're the Easter Bunny, to all and me
I'm sugar, you're spice, together it's nice
You're the best dad in the world.
You're the daddy I cherish, so big and bright
You're the daddy I cherish, so big and bright
I couldn't imagine my life
without your beautiful light
Like angels that sing, a heavenly thing
I will always be you're little girl.
I love you, Melissa

Hi. just turning back on after a few days off and starting to catch up again. Will show your Birthday picture and message to your Dad when he gets home this afternoon. He will be so happy to read about the fond memories you have of him. As we get older, it is nice to know that our children have good and happy thoughts about their parents and the special relationships experienced with each of them. Love Mom
