Our Little Trooper...

Well as you can tell from the pictures Hailey broke her elbow last week! As my sister said, "When things like this happen, life literally stops." And I have would have to agree. To make a long story short, she fell off the swing set last Tuesday afternoon. We were sent to the next town over, Florence for Hailey to see Dr. Gilpin, who is one of the best Orthopedic Pediatric Specialist in the area. He did emergency surgery around 10:00 that night. He placed two pins in her elbow and she will have them removed in two weeks. He will then recast her arm which she will wear for another 6 weeks. We will be in Misawa by then, so any physical therapy she will need to complete she will do there. She is doing much better and has been a really good trooper. I think the only time she really cried was when it first initially happened. She missed celebrating her birthday with her friends, so the nurses gave her a small birthday party in her room. Throughout the day, they decorated her room, brought in a present here & there, and to top it off they sang happy birthday and gave her her first barbie doll! It was so sweet! She was very shy & quite through it all, but her face lit up everytime the door opened. Friday was her first good day that she felt like taking a bath and coming out to the living room for a bit. Mark made her birthday dinner that we didn't have on Wednesday of spaghetti & meatballs and I made her favorite chocolate cake! In between all of the fun, Hailey let me take a few pictures of her! As you can tell, she got a little impatient with me, but I just couldn't resist. Her expressions were just too cute. Will have more pictures coming & a slideshow! Well that's the latest here in South Carolina! It's countdown time....moving day is coming fast. Unbelievable!

I'm so sorry about Hailey's arm, so sad it interfered with her birthday. I'm sure you're so busy getting ready for your move. Have you sold your house yet? Looking forward to the slide show.
