Well, I am recovering from a week of Spring Break....so glad the kids went back to school today. I played catch up on housework that kinda got put on the back burner. We started out at the beginning of the week taking a picnic lunch to the pony park with a group from church. We will be going back to visit this park when Mark gets home and when the weather warms up a little more! The park is about 45 minutes away from here in a little town that is all farm land but absolutely beautiful. Tons of cool toys to play on...there is a really huge, long slide at the top of this hill. It's a little bit of a hike, but once you get to the top, it's soooo worth the ride going down. It's called a "roller slide" and you go down it on a mat. The outside of the slide is enclosed, built like a skeleton, you can see through it. It reminded me of "the luge", remember that Olympic sport. It was really cool, sorry no pictures of it this time. You can imagine how many times I made the hike with Rylan! He was a mess to keep up with! On Wednesday, we found a pool that is here locally, the Misawa Athletic Fitness Club. Have I mentioned all the pools here in Misawa are INDOOR...It's the Asian cultural, they don't like the sun at all....the FAIRER the BETTER....so NO SUNTANS this summer for us!!! When you attend the Japanese pools, you have to wear a swim cap, not sure as to why...just was told it's an Asian cultural thing too. Don't the kids look really cute with their swim caps on! They got a kick out of it, thought it was really neat, Hunter was reluctant at first, b/c he thought he was going to be wearing the shower caps like Grammy Barbie wears in the shower! Got a good laugh about that one...though once he saw the huge slide that was inside the pool, he didn't care what he had to wear! Thursday, the weather was bad, so we hung out at the house watching movies and hit the Misawa Science & Airplane Museum on Friday. The coolest thing about the entire week is that everything was FREE, except for swimming which cost 100 yen ($1.00) for the kids & 500 yen for me. $9.00 bucks for a week of Spring Break....I haven't had a Spring Break that cheap in years....we always go to Florida, so you can imagine that bill!LOL Anyways, Mark is doing well in Alaska, working long hours. He said it was in the 50's when he first got there. The weather quickly changed to cold & snow this last week! He's not enjoying that too much. We have a few more weeks before he comes home and I'm sure it will go by fast. We have more than enough to keep us busy... soccer practices have started, still busy with Scouts and after school clubs. Well that's the latest, enjoy the pictures and have a good week. Love M~

My swim hat looks like Haileys, all of the boys on the swimteam wear them here they look just like Hunter. What a great opportunity for the kids to participate in the Asian culture. I am sure you will be hard pressed to duplicate those facilities here in US. Know you miss the sun, but it is probably healthier. Know you are busy this week as well getting things back in order. I do not think it is warm anywhere. Hug the kids. Luv Aunt Tuttie
Hello everybody from Grammy Barbie and PAPA here at HBR in Destin on our "spring break". The pictures of your "spring break" are non-replaceable. Please be sure to preserve your Blog on an independent drive. Don't want to take a chance of losing any of this. Our week is going good. It is a little cold for the sun deck today, so I did a little shopping. We walked on the beach and saw the "Destin" sunset and surf fishermen last evening. Then your Dad took me to "HOOTERS" for a burger & fries! He had never been and thought it would be "exciting", but the waitresses were all about 18, 19, 20 and did not have a lot of "hoot". The burgers were good though!!!!! We have Owners complimentary tonight and for breakfast Tues and Wed. Will be in touch as the week progresses. Hug all the kids for us. Love Mom and Dad on Spring Break!!!!!! April 14, 2008
What fun!!! You are going to have so many exciting experiences living there. White skin is quite bright, but absolutely healthier! I would love an indoor pool like that for the winter here! That would be a fun activity for the kids. And the weather is very warm here! It was almost 100 degrees this weekend. We have had the air on. Pretty funny. Be sure to keep a journal of your travels! It will come in handy for school assignments when you are back in the states! Take care and have fun.
Love,
Stephanie
