October brings my birthday and this year I turned the big 38...and the goal I had set for myself last year was to strengthen my endurance in long distance running and to have better health. I am proud to say I achieved both of my goals. I lost a total of 35 lbs starting October 2008, and by the time December rolled around I lost another 5! This was really huge for me and I have my eyes set on another 25 for the upcoming year! It did take me a year to work myself back into running. I owe my motivation to some GREAT ladies, Janeen, Ginger, Belinda, Rose, & Taryn and of course MARK! They were my rock that kept going when I asked myself...why am I doing this? So to celebrate my birthday, instead of going out to dinner, I asked them to run the Breast Cancer 5K with me on the base! It's hard to believe that a year ago, I was so out of shape and could barley do 5 minutes on an elliptical. Now, I am able to run 3.1 miles! Going to the gym is part of my regular daily routine. Even if I can't stay to lift weights I do make the attempt to get there and do cardio for an hour! My goal for this race was to finish in 37 minutes and I finished in 35! Excited to see what 2010 brings.
